Membership is awarded based on verifiable experience or by achieving BIOSH UK-recognized qualifications. Each membership level reflects your expertise, competence, and standing within the industry.

Below are the membership categories and their eligibility criteria:

Affiliate Member

This category encourages students and entry-level learners to join a reputable professional community. BIOSH UK provides a platform for students to interact with experienced professionals, gain guidance, and set their academic and career goals with confidence.

Eligibility

Students currently enrolled in programs related to the following fields may apply:

  • Occupational Health & Safety

  • Risk Management

  • Disaster Management

  • Environmental Management

Associate Member

Associate Membership is designed for individuals who have established foundational experience in their professional field.

Eligibility

Applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • A minimum of two years of verifiable experience in recognized organizations within relevant sectors.

  • Possession of at least one of the following BIOSH UK–recognized qualifications:

    • Level 4 International Certificate in Safety, Health and Environment

    • Level 3 Certificate in Disaster Management

    • Level 3 Certificate in Environmental Management

Graduate Member

Graduate Membership is for professionals who have gained substantial experience and hold qualifications demonstrating advanced knowledge.

Eligibility

Applicants must fulfill one of the following:

  • Four years of professional experience in the relevant sector
    OR

  • Completion of one of the following qualifications recognized by BIOSH UK:

    • Level 6 Diploma in Occupational Health & Safety

    • Level 6 Diploma in Risk Management

    • Level 6 Diploma in Disaster Management

    • Level 6 Diploma in Environmental Management

Chartered Member

The Chartered membership acknowledges individuals with exceptional achievement, leadership, and professional excellence in their field. Chartered Members are recognized for their advanced expertise and may use the post-nominal designation “CMBIOSHUK.”

This prestigious grade provides numerous benefits, including:

  • Participation in decision-making committees

  • Collaboration with top-tier professionals

  • Enhanced credibility and employability

  • Global recognition and increased career opportunities

Eligibility

Applicants may qualify through one of the following routes:

Route 1 – Experience-Based

  • Five years of verifiable professional experience in the relevant sector

  • Evident contributions through extracurricular or developmental activities such as research, training, or innovation

Route 2 – Education-Based

Completion of one of the following BIOSH UK–recognized qualifications:

  • Level 7 Diploma in Environmental Management

  • Level 7 Diploma in Disaster Management

Fellow Member

Fellow Membership is the highest level of professional recognition offered by BIOSH UK. This grade honors individuals who have demonstrated long-term commitment to professional growth and have significantly contributed to their field.

Fellows represent excellence, leadership, and dedication to lifelong learning, serving as role models for other professionals.

Eligibility

Route 1 – Experience-Based

  • Ten years of verifiable experience in the relevant industry

  • Demonstrated involvement in professional development, research, or specialized contributions

Route 2 – Education-Based

Applicants must have completed both qualifications in one of the following pathways:

Pathway 1: Disaster Management

  • Level 6 Diploma in Disaster Management

  • Level 7 Diploma in Disaster Management

Pathway 2: Environmental Management

  • Level 6 Diploma in Environmental Management

  • Level 7 Diploma in Environmental Management
